Pepper, my pet female pug is in heat this month and it is her first time to mate. My father and I looked for a suitable mate for her. A male pug with ash colored coat, black mask, diamond forehead marking and 2 looped tail. At first, I brought my dog to the stud’s house to get to know the future sire of her pups and left her there for 3 days. The stud owner said that my dog did not want to mate with her dog and keeps on running around if the male pug sneaks up behind her.
When i fetched my dog, I asked the owner if I could borrow her dog and perhaps take semen from the male pug manually and perform an artificial insemination on my dog. Upon her approval, i brought her dog to my house and started to extract semen. The dog however failed to produce an erection (maybe he did not want a male person milking him LOL!!). So, I decided to release my dog from her enclosure in the hopes that the male would be excited when he smells the pheromones oozing from a very horny dog. To my surprise, he my dog was really leading him on and finally allowed the dog to mate with her.
I was glad i did not have to breed both dogs using artificial insemination beacause it is un natural and there may be consequences. One of the consequences I could forsee is that the dogs would not be able to mate the natural way in the future and would depend on the artificial insemination.
One word of advise for pet owners who wants to breed their dog for the first time, do not get frustrated if they do not Get it On immediately. Both dogs should feel comfortable with their environment, and with each other.
When my dog’s mate first entered the house, he automatically roamed around marking almost every corner with urine (Clearly this is a sign of poor house training). But then, this is how dogs mark their territory which thereby making himself comfortable with his environment. If both dogs are comfortable successful mating is sure to follow.
